| The Council of British Pakistanis (Scotland) |
Established in Scotland in 1990 the CBP(S),
part of the National organisation, provides free advice on a range of legally
orientated matters to a wide spectrum of Ethnic Minority Communities in
Scotland.
It specialises in its work in the Immigration field including making representations
and presenting Appeals before Adjudicators and Immigration Appeal Tribunal.
It deals with matters relating to Inland Revenue (Scotland) and HM Customs
and Excise which have policy bearing angle. Works closely with the Legal
Profession and makes representations, when necessary to the Lord President
in Scotland as well as the Lord Advocate responsible for Administration
of the Justice system. It makes representations to The Scottish Office
and to Local Authorities as well as the Police both on the individual basis
and at Policy level.
The major thrust of the work is in the Employment field. For this, there
is an open and wide spread dialogue with major Employers including Financial
Institutions. This is an attempt to ensure that the major Employers' work
force depicts the Community in which they are based.
In fact the CBP(S), in promotion of Racial Equality and elimination of
Racial Discrimination, works on a very wide platform providing services
to a wide range of Ethnic Minority Communities.
It is based at: 79A Broughton Street, Edinburgh,
EH1 3RJ.
